Google Authorship Guide

This Google Authorship guide will walk you through some of the more common methods for setting up Google Authorship. The benefits to Google Authorship are numerous, and growing. Generally speaking Google Authorship helps individuals and businesses build a verified Online identity.

A verified Online identity helps build trust between you and your audience, client or customer. In today’s increasingly personalized Web people expect individuals and brands to be connected and accessible.

Google Authorship personalizes search by showing an Author’s photograph next to search results. This photo has proven to increase clicks significantly because the image draws attention. For example this research uses image maps to track where a person’s attention is drawn, and shows that while the first result still draws a lot of attention the result with Authorship setup draws at least as much if not more.
